A spokesperson for the club said: “It’s been a year we will all remember. We’re gathering reports from across the whole spectrum of Kirky life – schools, churches, sports groups, clubs, societies, organisations and individuals throughout the town.

"They will all be added to a memory book and lodged in the William Patrick library to be kept for all time.”

The Herald is backing the club in their project and will feature some of the experiences gathered by the club in this publication and online.

The Rotary Club added: “In February 2020, few of us had heard the term ‘Covid’, yet four weeks later, by the end of March the entire country was in lockdown.

"We didn’t know what was about to happen to our lives, our families, our neighbours, the way we lived.

"What about the things we took part in and maybe took for granted?

“Our schools, churches, community centres, clubs closed, our local care homes suffered a catastrophe and we were introduced to the onlilne world of Zoom.

“Unable to meet family, friends, neighbours, colleagues or cronies. And all of us in it together,

“We have been socially distancing, wearing masks, sanitizing our hands and trying hard to keep things as ‘normal’ as possible.

Vaccination is now hopefully bringing us out from perhaps the worst crisis in our living memory.”
