TALENTED singer Alan Parker is hoping to impress judges in a national competition.
The 21-year-old beat off stiff competition from thousands of hopefuls to secure a place in the regional final of Open Mic UK. The competition is for unsigned acts.
Alan, from Torrance, was given the thumbs up by judges with his performance of Michael Buble’s ‘Home’.
He will now perform in Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall on September 24.
The final of the competition will be held in the O2 Arena, in London, later this year. The winner will scoop a £50,000 recording contract.
Alan, who recently performed at the Kirkintilloch Canal Festival, said: “I’ve never done this kind of thing before, I don’t normally enter competitions.
“I don’t know what I’m going to sing yet, but I’m looking forward to taking part.”
Alan’s repertoire includes hits from the world of pop, classical and country and western. He performs at various events, including ladies’ nights, themed nights and dinner dances, and has recorded two CDs.
Alan (pictured) is also a member of the Antonine Players drama group, based at the Fort Theatre, in Bishopbriggs.
