Plans for a new restaurant and takeaway in Parkhead have been refused.

Bruce Properties had applied for permission from Glasgow City Council planning officials to turn a former betting shop at 14 Westmuir Street into a restaurant.

However, officials rejected the proposal, arguing that it was not in accordance with the development plan, would have a negative impact on neighbours and went against particular guidelines, among other reasons.

The restaurant, if it had been approved, would have been open seven days a week, noon-11pm.
