Island cycle set to raise crucial funds for Malawi charity

Four intrepid cyclists are aiming to complete a gruelling 150 mile journey to help orphaned African children.

Bishopbriggs residents Mark Hutchinson (48) and Peter Wood (40) are teaming up with friends Calum MacLennan and Sandy MacDougall for the journey from Castlebay on the Isle of Barra to the ‘Butt’ of the Isle of Lewis on July 20.

They are aiming to complete the journey, which includes multiple ferry crossings, in just 24-hours - aided by Peter’s dad Derek who will follow them in a car with supplies and camping equipment.

It’s all in aid of charity ECRAD, who support HIV/Aids orphans in Malawi, and they hope to fund a much-needed car and a maize milling machine.
