FESTIVAL fever has gripped a Kirkintilloch band with appearances lined up at T in the Park, Sonisphere, Underage and Hevy.
MakeThisRelate played Download and the Metal Hammer Golden Gods awards last weekend after reaching the next stage of Red Bull’s Bedroom Jam competition.
And the group, which consists of Kirkintilloch singer/guitarist Kevin Walls (21) and guitarist David Mcerlane (23), Carluke bassist Aiden Scott (21) and Lanark drummer Danny Kelly (20), could be recording their next EP in London and touring with a signed band if they win the contest later this year.
Kevin, who was runner-up in the Herald’s Voice of 2007 competition, said: “It’s amazing, we can’t believe it.
“I’m really excited about playing all the festivals, but T in the Park stands out.
“It’s a rite of passage for Scottish people who love music. I watch it on television every year so to go there and see it in the flesh is brilliant.
“One of our biggest influences, Jimmy Eat World, are also playing, so to be on the same bill as them is amazing.
“This is the biggest thing we’ve done and the fact people listened to our music and thought we’d be suitable for the festivals is really humbling, I hope we make them proud.
“We’d like to thank all our fans who’ve supported us, we owe them so much.”
The band, who recently finished their first co-headlining British tour with Page 44, will release their new single ‘Sugar Glass’ and play a series of UK gigs in August.
