More than skin deep

WHAT do you call a band who describe themselves as “quintessentially British” and combine “elements of punk, rock, metal, reggae and electronic music”?

Points will be deducted for the use of foul language.

They are Skindred and they are fronted by the Elvis-obsessed lead singer Benji Webbe.

Rising from the ashes of what was the seminal British ragga punks Dubwar at the turn of the millenium, Skindred hit the ground running with the debut album Babylon.

With singles Nobody, Pressure and Selector increasing their popularity, Skindred became a live act not to be missed and they toured the world delighting audiences.

So much so that it would be another five years before the band could get back into the studion to record the next album, Roots Rock Riot, in 2005.

Now the band are headlining the Jagermeister Music Tour and will be joined by alternative metal legends Therapy?.

Skindred vocalist Benji said: “Skindred are more than buzzed to be stepping out headlining the 2012 Jagermeister Music Tour with a killer line-up that includes the likes of us and Therapy? amongst others.

“In a time that everything is so expensive, this is the ultimate roll back at just £5 a ticket.

“Don’t delay, get your ticket right away”.

Skindred are appearing at the 02 ABC on Wednesday, Aprill 11 and tickets, as Benji said, are just £5.
