A PROLIFIC poet has dedicated his latest collection of verse to a much-missed councillor.

Tam Craven, from Lennoxtown, will release his new book, entitled ‘Kindness’, later this month.

The volume includes a poem about former council leader Charles Kennedy, who died recently, and features a portrait of the long-serving community stalwart.

In the introduction to the book, Tam writes: “Councillor Charles Kennedy helped me on many occasions and is sadly missed.

“He was one of those rare people who would help anyone and was dedicated to his community.”

The cover of the wordsmith’s 26th book features a painting by his brother George Craven, who also grew up in Lennoxtown but now lives in Torquay.

‘Kindness’ will be launched at Kirkintilloch’s Regent Centre on Friday, September 21, when Tam will be signing copies.

Tam is pictured with his book and his brother’s painting.
