Quilts and Quirks for Biggar Museum display

Quilts and Quirks is the latest exhibtion opening at Biggar’s Moat Park Museum, and it will appeal to embroiderers guilds as well as those interested in history.

It focuses mainly on patchwork quilting, but includes most types of sewing – and even a pair of Queen Victoria’s bloomers.

“And of great interest to children are home made dolls, dolls’ clothing, and samples of things children did at school,” added Museum Trustee Ann Matheson.

The oldest of the quilts is a large one first exhibited in Biggar in 1884.
