KIRKINTILLOCH Male Voice Choir have released a special CD to celebrate their 90th anniversary.
The CD features some of the choir’s most popular songs.
Months of rehearsals were followed by a three-day recording session in St Mary’s Parish Church.
Sally McLellan, the choir’s musical director, said: “We’re delighted with the end result.”
The CD release, made possible thanks to a community grant, is just one of the events to help the 50-strong choir celebrate the milestone anniversary.
A book is being produced by former Scottish Television journalist Bob Tomlinson, who also sings with the choir. And a dinner is being held later in the year.
The main event is a concert in St Mary’s Parish Church on Saturday, April 2 (7.30pm), which will also feature the celerated Cardiff Male Voice Choir. Tickets for the 90th Anniversary Concert are now on sale, priced £7, and can be purchased from any choir member or Lynsey’s Flowers, in Catherine Street, Kirkintilloch.
They are also available from the choir’s business manager on 0141 775 2437. Musical director Sally McLellan said: “We’re delighted with the way the recording went and the men have produced an excellent CD, which I am sure will have something to suit all musical tastes.”
Among the tracks on the CD are Morte Criste, Non Nobis Domine, Dark Island, Moor River and The Water is Wide.
