Time is running out for residents in East Dunbartonshire to benefit from free special uplifts before charges are introduced from April.
The £20 charge is being brought in for collections of items such as excess bags of rubbish, furniture, carpets, white goods, toys or gardening equipment.
Council leader Rhondda Geekie said: “The council was faced with some difficult decisions when it finalised its budget in February.
“We decided to introduce charges for special uplifts and every effort was made to keep this as low as possible at £20.”
The charge comes in on April 1, but residents need to book their uplift before midnight on Sunday, March 23, to get it for free.
To arrange a special uplift, call 0300 123 4515. Or take waste to Mavis Valley Recycling free of charge.
