St Cyprian’s Church became a pets paradise for parishioners last Sunday when the Rev Les Ireland held a special pets blessing service,
Around 25 Lenzie pet owners turned up with a variety of animals, the majority dogs – but a gerbil and some stick insects also formed part of the congregation.
Mr Ireland said: “My predecessor, the Rev Moira Jamieson was very keen on dogs and the pet blessing services started up about four years ago.
“We basically say a prayer for the pet and for the owner.
He added: “The animals were all very well behaved.
“One parishioner’s dog always howls when the music starts and tries valiantly to keep in time!”
“I’m also quite fond of gerbils as our daughter used to keep them.”
