Did you get married in Kirkintilloch’s former Park Church – or do you simply have happy memories of the friends you made there?
Local community activist Sheena Jordan is hoping local people will help to make a success of a forthcoming Doors Open Day by donating all sorts of memorabilia.
The mainstay of the exhibition will probably centre on photographs, but items of interest could even include an original wedding dress – or a set of favourite bowls.
The Kerr Street community resource will be taking a reflective look at its previous incarnation as a church with a special foyer display on September 12, and organisers reckon scores of local people still have reminders of those days tucked away in desk drawers, wardrobes or attics.
All such items will be very gratefully received.
Sheena said: “We know people have very fond memories of the church, but until now there’s been little to remind people of what an important role it had to play in community life here.
“Probably people have items they haven’t looked at for ages, which could be of great interest to people interested in how the church developed.
“The exhibition will be on the theme ‘all our yesterdays” and could contain all sorts of items that were important at the time .
“Photographs from weddings or other occasions, large and small, and of well-known individuals, will also help create a picture of a place that meant so much to so many.”
