Appeal for information following robberies

The first took place at Bet Fred Bookmakers on Hawthorn Street, Glasgow at around 3.20pm last Friday (July 29).

A man entered the shop and demanded money from the 23-year-old shop assistant, then ran off with a three figure sum leaving the shop assistant uninjured but very distressed.

The suspect was last seen on Chestnut Street and is described as white, early to mid-twenties, average height and of slim build. He was wearing black plimsoll style shoes, black trousers, grey hooded zipper, dark sunglasses and a black baseball cap.

The second crime happened around 11.55am the following day at a BP Service Station in Broomfield Road, when a man entered the garage and threatened the 53-year-old male assistant with what appeared to be a firearm. He demanded that the assistant hand over money however he was chased out the garage by the assistant and fled only with some cans of juice.

The firearm was not discharged at any time and the suspect was last seen in Ryehill Road. He is described as white, early to mid-twenties, average height and of slim build. He was wearing a dark woollen hat, dark sunglasses, a grey top underneath a dark coloured body warmer, blue denims and white trainers.

Detectives are appealing for any witnesses to the robberies and would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the suspect/suspects hanging around the premises prior to the robberies taking place or running off afterwards.
