Bakery giant set to open third shop

The UK's largest bakery chain, Greggs, will be opening a third shop in Motherwell next month.

The firm already has two shops in Motherwell Shopping Centre and its new outlet will be located at the former Tilemania site in Windmillhill Street which is also home to a Tesco Express and Domino’s Pizza.

A year ago North Lanarkshire Council authorised a change of use for the remaining unit on the site from retail to cafe and last month gave planning permission for a further change of use to a mixture of retail and cafe.

Greggs were also given permission for the necessary changes to signage and the creation of a shopfront, with the shopfitting team on site from today (Monday) ahead of the opening on Saturday, June 4, at 11am.

The shop will feature a dozen seats and a toilet.
