BB Pipers’ debut on the Green

The newly formed Glasgow Battalion Boys’ Brigade Pipe Band made a stirring debut at this year’s World Pipe Band Championships, staged in Glasgow Green.

It was the band’s first competitive outing at this prestigious event since its inception. Battalion Secretary James McVean commented: “It’s great to see the progression the band has made over the last several years, from the humble beginnings of the piping and drumming workshops that were established back in autumn 2010 to encourage musical interest across the city.”

He added, “A lot of practice and preparation has taken place for the band to get to where they are today.”

This weekend the band will be taking part in the Rothesay Games, before finishing their competitive season at the Cowal Highland Games next Saturday (August 29).
