LENZIE Scout Group is asking for your support in their bid for funds for camping equipment through the RBS CommunityForce initiative.

With a growing following of Scouts attending the Clyde region Scouts hillwalks and a groundswell of Explorer Scouts wanting to undertake the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, the need for resources has become quite acute.

The Community Force award would be used to purchase camping equipment so that young people can explore the natural environment and participate in outdoor learning and activities.

Through annual fundraising efforts such as their renowned burger stands at the Lenzie and Kirky Galas, Lenzie Scout Group manages to fund all sections from Beavers (six to eight) and Cubs (eight to 10 ½) to a capacity Scout Section (10½ to 14 years).

RBS CommunityForce is a new initiative that enables local communities to support projects and charities in their neighbourhood by voting for them online. Those gaining a strong showing stand to receive the substantial sum of £6,000 from the RBS Community Force.

Scouting Programme:

The purpose of Scouting is to contribute to the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities.

Lenzie Scouts make a direct impact on the local community by teaching positive values and leadership skills to local young people.

The well-tried and updated programmes promote the physical, intellectual, social and spiritual well-being of the individual, helping them achieve their full potential. It is a tenet in Scouting, that young people develop most when they are ‘learning by doing,’ when they are given responsibility, work in teams, take acceptable risks and think for themselves.
