Bomb disposal squad called out to canal at Bishopbriggs to tackle explosive device

A bomb disposal team was called out yesterday after a device suspected to be an unexploded mortar was found in the canal at Bishopbriggs.

Police cordoned off part of the Forth and Clyde Canal path near the Leisuredrome at about 10.25am.

An explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) team was sent to the scene.

A police spokesperson said: “The EOD attended and the matter has been dealt with by the EOD.”
