Bearsden & Milngavie U3A (University of the Third Age) are holding an art exhibition and sale of work at Glasgow Botanics Tearoom this May.
Those taking part are members of three art groups in Bearsden and Milngavie U3A, which is the local branch of the national charitable organisation that provides educational, creative and leisure opportunities for retired people at very little cost. There are a wide range of activities, which are run on a voluntary basis by the members. No qualifications are needed to join and none are awarded. It is all about learning for pleasure and fun.
The outdoor painting and sketching group visit various locations in the summer where they sketch, chat and enjoy a cup of tea. Some of these sketches are used later for finished pieces.
The members of the two other art groups are of mixed abilities and experience. They learn from each other and from tutors Alison Duncan and Julia Karling, who give their time and skills for free. Glasgow Botanics Tearoom is open daily from 10am to 4.15pm.
