Demolition workers have started to tear down one of Kirkintilloch’s landmark buildings - Tom Johnston House.
The former headquarters of East Dunbartonshire Council have been left derelict since August 2012 when the council moved to its new home in nearby Southbank Marina.
Work to raze the building to the ground is expected to take around 15 weeks.
The site is up for sale and council chiefs hope to attract a developer, with planning permission already granted earlier this year for a food store, petrol filling station and restaurant.
