THIS year’s Kirkintilloch Canal Festival promises to be the best yet.
The festivities, which are part of the Kirkintilloch 800 celebrations, kick-off on Monday, August 22 with ‘Story Week’.
Throughout the week there will be talks, displays, music and theatre celebrating the past, present and future of the Forth and Clyde Canal.
The weekend will see ‘Get Active Saturday’ hit the Kirkintilloch Marina on August 27 and the highlight, as ever, will be Gala Sunday, offering three zones of fun and frolics for all the family.
Attractions will include fire eaters, jugglers, Punch and Judy shows, boating on the canal, water orbing and belly dancing.
Council leader Rhondda Geekie said: “It’s fantastic to see that the Canal Festival is back and even bigger for 2011 with so much on offer to locals, businesses and tourists alike.”
