Carluke’s Market Square could have permanent memorial to Lanarkshire Yeomanry
Representatives from Carluke Development Trust, Carluke Rotary Club and the town’s Heritage Society have joined forces with members of the Lanarkshire Yeomanry Group to look into the suggestion of a permanent memorial to the county’s own regiment in Market Place.
The location would certainly be an apt one as Carluke Victoria Cross hero, Thomas Caldwell, was a trooper with Lanarkshire Yeomanry.

Hide AdIt would also mean that there would be a triangle of memorials in Market Square with the existing war memorial and the memorial honouring the town’s three VC winners already taking pride of place there.
