Carstairs Junction Gala Week 2010

Carstairs Junction Primary pupil Jennifer was crowned 2010 Queen by Crowning Lady Gail Davidson on what turned out to be one of the hottest days of the year.

It was a special moment for Gail too as both her mum and grandmother had crowned queens in the past.

There to see Jennifer's big moment in the spotlight were her proud parents, Shirley and Jim.

Shirley said: "From the moment I found out Jennifer was going to be queen I was praying for the weather to be good.

"All of my family came from Bonnybridge to see the crowning and our neighbours joined us for a party in the evening so it was brilliant."

The Gala Day rounded off a fantastic week of celebration in the village.

On May 28 a gala bingo was held and on Tuesday the fancy dress procession was staged in the town, prior to the children's disco.

A five-a-side football tournament was held last Wednesday and on Thursday the Championship sports event took place.
