C’est magnifique, Julie!

French tutor Julie Olliero has been chosen to receive the much-acclaimed La Jolie Ronde Licensee Award after beating several others to the title.

Julie, who teaches in Netherlee, was born in Montauban, a town situated in the Quercy region of south west France.

But she didn’t start out as a language teacher.

Previously, the French lass had worked in computing, having graduated in France with a Masters in the field.

After qualifying, Julie took up a one year internship with BT. She eventually moved to Glasgow with her French husband.

There, she set up a successful business in web consultancy and web development.

However, Julie took time out of her career to start a 
family and this move also led her to rethinking her career path.

Working as a web consultant proved to be a very demanding job — especially when you have a young child to take care of.

Encouraged by a French friend’s newly-found job as a translator, Julie found herself looking at careers where she could use her mother tongue and came across an opportunity with La Jolie Ronde teaching French to children in Netherlee and Yorkhill.

She currently teaches weekly French classes to around 80 nursery and primary-aged children.

General Manager Steve Baker said:”Julie was chosen for the commitment she has shown over the last three years. She has great enthusiasm for the French language and her classes show a good balance of fun and learning.”
