A DRIVER who allegedly led police on a chase through Kirkintilloch is due to appear in court this week.

The 23-year-old, from Lennoxtown, has been reported to the procurator fiscal for allegedly failing to stop his car when asked to do so by a police officer in Cowgate, Kirkintilloch, on Sunday, April 1.

It’s also alleged he was driving dangerously at an excessive speed and on the wrong side of the road, went through a red light, deliberately reversed his car into a police vehicle and had no insurance.

When police stopped him in Initiative Road, the driver refused to take a breath test and was allegedly in possession of a baton and an axe.

He is also accused of shouting, swearing and uttering homophobic remarks.

It’s believed the alleged offences were committed while the man was on bail.
