Council donates to the Glasgow Queen Street Fund

North Lanarkshire Council Provost James Robertson has announced that the council will make a donation to the Lord Provost’s Queen Street Fund in Glasgow.

The fund was set up to provide support to people affected by the tragic incident in Queen Street in which six people were killed, with several others injured.

Provost Robertson said: “The events in Glasgow have shocked us all and all of us in North Lanarkshire will be thinking of the families of those who died.

“An incident such as this is appalling at any time of the year but is particularly distressing at Christmas.

“As a neighbouring authority, we would wish to show our solidarity with the people of Glasgow and also offer some practical help to those affected.

“That is why we will make a donation of £5,000 to the Lord Provost’s Queen Street Fund so that the families of those caught up in this tragedy can be offered every possible support.”
