Couple get cashback after uplift problems

A couple have been given a full refund after waiting over a month for a special uplift.

Margaret and Jim Clayton contacted East Dunbartonshire Council to collect a pile of rubbish from their garden in Kirkintilloch’s Iona Way after getting their kitchen renovated.

They booked an uplift on March 8, with the £20 charge being taken from their bank account a day later, but they were still waiting a month later.

Ann Davie, the council’s group director of education, people and business, said: “Unfortunately, due to an error, the special uplift request was not processed correctly.

“When the error came to light the request was escalated for collection.

“We are now in the process of issuing a full refund to the customer and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
