MUM was the word as a popular minister has tied-the-knot with a little help from her mum.
The Reverend Julie Wilson married Laurence Moody at Milton of Campsie Parish Church last month.
However, the minister could not conduct her own wedding ceremony so she got her mum, retired minister Reverend Phyllis Wilson, to do it instead.
Julie said: “It was fantastic. Mum was the only choice, she’s someone we know well and she knows us.
“It was a strange experience, because I’m usually on the other side and I think the congregation found it quite funny as every now and again I would want to take over.
“It was a fantastic service, I’ve got a lot of friends who are ministers, but it would not have seemed right to pass over mum.”
The wedding proved to be a real family affair, with Julie’s sister acting as her ‘best girl’ and her brother playing the organ.
The couple, who got engaged in January, also set up a video screen in the village hall to let Julie’s parishioners see her get married.
Julie added: “It was important for the congregation to take part, because they have been so supportive, welcoming and embracing of Lawrence.
“It was a real church family affair.”
