Police confirmed that the victim received injuries to his ear and arm in the process -which required hospital treatment
They have praised too a “courageous” intervention from horrified members of the public who tried their best to help as the bigger dog continued its vicious attack in full view of the onlookers.
Communities inspector Neil MacLeod said: “This was clearly an incident which caused great distress to the dog owner, the dog itself and to on lookers who felt compelled to try and assist.”
