Delays expected on M73 due to bridge removal

Glasgow's M73 northbound link road to the M8 westbound near Baillieston will be closed this Friday from 8pm until 6am on Monday (October 3).

The closure is required to safely demolish the old A8 Baillieston/Swinton Link Bridge, which has been replaced by a new bridge as part of the M8, M73, M74 Motorway Improvements Project.

Weekend motorists from the Greater Glasgow and Lanarkshire areas are being advised to avoid the M73 northbound link road to the M8 westbound during this closure and to take an alternative route or use an alternative mode of transport.

A signed diversion will be in place via the M73 northbound to Baillieston Interchange, the A8 eastbound to Bargeddie and return to A8/M8 westbound.

Delays on the approaches to the M73 northbound near Baillieston and Maryville Junctions are anticipated.

Motorists are advised to plan their journeys in advance. Further information can be found on the Transport Scotland or Traffic Scotland websites.
