STOP playing with fire - that’s the plea to young people this week as deliberate incidents soar.
Fire crews have been called to 20 incidents in North Glasgow since the start of the month.
The blazes include fires being set in bins and to rubbish.
The surge in incidents have coincided with the school holidays.
Fire chiefs are urging children and young people not to play with fire.
It’s feared that lives could be put at risk as firefighters may not be able to attend more serious blazes when attending deliberate calls.
The hotspot areas have included Springburn Way and Greenside Street in Provanmill.
A recent blaze to a derelict pub in Cowlairs Road in Springburn is also believed to be deliberate.
Scott Murray, Springburn Fire Station commander, said: “Deliberate incidents are a drain on our time, money and if
we are at these calls we may not be able to be elsewhere.”
