Development plans for ‘brownfield’ site go on public display

Residents in an East Dunbartonshire village are to get the chance to view proposals for a new housing development.

Link Group Ltd want to build houses on a ‘brownfield’ site at Calico Way, in Lennoxtown, and will shortly apply to East Dunbartonshire Council for planning approval.

A spokesperson for Link said: “Subject to all statutory approvals being in place, it is anticipated that works will commence in April 2015 and complete in March 2016.

“The proposed development will comprise two-storey family housing with a small number of cottage apartments. The majority of the properties will be for social rent with the remainder for sale by a shared equity.”

Link say the development reflects local housing need and demand as assessed by the council. The information evening takes place in Campsie Memorial Hall, Main Street, Lennoxtown, on Wednesday, August 27, from 5pm to 7.30pm.

The spokesperson added: “The information evening will give local residents and neighbours the chance to “drop-in” to review plans detailing the layout, house types, and tenures. Link’s development and housing staff, as well as the architect, will be there to answer questions.”
