Disruption expected during Eaglesham water works

Drivers using Eaglesham roads are being advised to plan ahead as Scottish Water moves in to carry out four months worth of work.

Contractors for Scottish Water will be working on improvements to waste water infrastructure in the area to enable further development by housebuilders Mactaggart & Mickel.

Work began on Monday (January 5) and is expected to take around four months to complete.

A spokeswoman warned: “Residents might notice an increase in traffic and noise while we are working in the area but we will make every effort to minimise any inconvenience.

“When we have completed the work, we will reinstate all areas to the original condition.”

There are five phases at different locations in Eaglesham, including Eaglesham Common parkland, the Orry woodland, Polnoon Street and Moor Road.

Polnoon Street will be closed to through traffic from Monday, February 2, for around 13 weeks and the use of temporary traffic lights in Moor Road at its junction with Polnoon Street for the same period. Resident access and parking will be maintained.

Scottish Water says all the construction work will be carried out between 8am and 4.30pm.

The spokeswoman added: “Scottish Water would like to thank any affected customers, road-users and businesses in advance for their patience and understanding.”
