POLICE are looking to return an antique silver cigarette case to its rightful owner.

The case was found alongside stolen property seized during a police operation in East Dunbartonshire.

It has the latin phrase ‘Nil Sine Labore’ inscribed on its lid - meaning ‘Nothing Without Effort’.

It is thought the case may have been stolen during a break-in.

Constable Siobhan McCandlish said: “Police recovered this item amongst a large amount of stolen property.

“So far we have been unable to identify the rightful owner of this unique item, which may be of sentimental value to someone as it has personal inscriptions on it.

“Any information regarding the owner can be passed to Kirkintilloch Police Office on 0141 532 4400.”
