Residents are being urged to ensure they have confirmed their place on the Electoral Register - or risk losing their vote.
The Electoral Register is due to be published on 1 December and there are 1,801 individuals currently on the list who will have to be removed if they do not re-register under the new system of individual electoral registration.
Returning Officer for East Dunbartonshire Gerry Cornes confirmed: “The 1,801 individuals who have not yet confirmed their registration will have been contacted on a number of occasions by the Electoral Registration Office over the past year.
“Anyone who has not confirmed their registration by November 30 will have to be removed from the register, so I would encourage everyone to ensure they respond to the individual electoral registration correspondence by this deadline.”
One of the main under-registered groups is young people.
Everyone who will be 15 years or older by November 30, 2015 is eligible for registration and if they have not yet done so, should go to www.gov.uk/register-to-vote as soon as possible and register
Mr Cornes added: “If you or anyone in your household think they may be eligible to register and have not yet done so, please go online before November 30 to complete the process.”
