Villagers of Twechar were calling on volunteers to help keep their community bus on the road to aid elderly people.

Residents of Twechar said their 14-seater mini bus was vital to groups in the village.

But they added they could be forced to put the brakes on the service used by housebound pensioners and kids if a driver couldn’t be found.

Community council member Mary Fury said at the time: “We are desperate. The bus is used to take the sick, the housebound and the elderly to church.

“We are looking for a couple of volunteers who can spare a couple of hours a week.”
