A familiar face in Woodhill for nearly 20 years has hung up his lollipop. Crossing patroller David Jones has retired after guiding generations of families across busy Woodhill Road at its junction with Menteith Avenue. David, who lives in the Meadowburn area but who has become a familiar face at the crossing on Woodhill Road, received a thank you gift from Woodhill Residents’ Group.

Local mum Kirsteen Griffiths said: “David’s extremely popular among the children of Woodhill, St Helen’s, Cleddens Learning and Childcare and Bishopbriggs Academy, as well as with parents and local residents. Come rain, sun or snow he can always been seen at his post on Woodhill Road with a smile on his face and a cheery hello for everyone he meets. We all just want to say thank you to him and give him some recognition for his years of service and let him know he will be sorely missed.”
