Kicking up a stink over overflowing dog waste bins at Bearsden

A local resident is kicking up a stink about the amount of dog mess being left behind at a Bearsden beauty spot during the coronavirus crisis.

Jennifer Kiernan, who is a Green Party member, contacted East Dunbartonshire Council on Twitter.

She tweeted: “The litter and dog waste bins around Mosshead (Bearsden) are overflowing. People are visiting Kilmardinny Loch en masse and walking all through the area with their pets. Can we have our bins emptied please?”

East Dunbartonshire Council responded on Twitter: “Hi Jennifer, thanks for letting us know. Our teams are currently operating at a limited capacity due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“There will be a limited service to litter bins in areas of high footfall such as shops and parks. Street litter bins are now being serviced on a reduced frequency with all 1300 bins getting one visit per week.

“This visit will take place over a two-day period each week until further notice. Thank you for your patience at this time”.
