FIREFIGHTERS have been forced to tackle another deliberate blaze in Kirkintilloch.

Fire engines from Kirkintilloch and Bishopbriggs rushed out to Ivanhoe Drive, in Kirkintilloch, to extinguish a fire in a derelict building at around 11.20pm on Thursday, March 31.

The area was plagued by a series of deliberate fires last year.

Station commander Kenny Ferrie said: “People think it’s ‘just’ a fire in a derelict building but it ties up our resources and is dangerous for our teams. On this occasion one of our firefighters fell through one of the floorboards.”
