Four men were arrested and appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court following an incident which took place at 8.40pm on Bonfire Night (November 5), in Cedar Road, Bishopbriggs.
It’s alleged the men, aged 23, 16, 23 and 19, ignited and aimed fireworks at members of the public and officers from Police Scotland who came to assist members of the public.
The men also resisted arrest and lit a firework in the direction of the officers, causing burning debris to strike an officer’s face.
Community Partnership Sergeant John Love said: “Police Scotland, in conjunction with their partners, annually plan and work to make Bonfire Night as safe as possible, to ensure that members of the public can enjoy this evening and feel safe.
“Police Scotland proactively tackle the misuse of fireworks, and as in this case any person involved in anti-social, criminal and irresponsible behaviour will not be tolerated and will be dealt with using the associated legislation and reported to the procurator fiscal”.
