Children’s services in North Lanarkshire have been praised as amongst the best in the country in a report published by the Care Inspectorate.
Inspectors visited the local authority between October and November last year to carry out the review, meeting with nearly 100 young people.
The joint inspection report awarded six ‘very goods’ and three ‘goods’ in nine key categories identified as being essential to improving the lives of young people.
The report states: “We are confident that as a result of the services being delivered, the lives of many children and young people in North Lanarkshire were improving.
“Where children and young people were in need of protection, the risks to their safety and well being were being identified in good time and suitable action was taken”.
