Glowing report for care home service from inspectors

A care home for adults with learning disabilities in East Dunbartonshire has received a glowing report from the Care Inspectorate.

John Street House Care Home Service, which provides physical, emotional, and social support to 11 adults who have a learning disability, received a positive report following an unannounced inspection in July.

The service, based in Kirkintilloch, was rated as Grade 5 (Very Good) for its quality of care and support, environment and staffing.

Its quality of staffing and quality of management and leadership were rated as Grade 4 (Good).

Councillor Michael O’Donnell, convener of the council’s social work committee, said: “The feedback received from the inspection was exceptionally positive, especially as this inspection was completely unannounced. The service was given no notice, inspectors arrived without warning and there was no opportunity for management or staff to prepare.

“The report acknowledges that the service is well liked by service users and relatives and that John Street House itself is pleasant and homely.

“The employees at John Street have worked in the service for some time and have a good understanding of the care and support that each person needs and wants. The report also praises them for the very good standard of care and support they offer and it is pleasing to hear them get the recognition they deserve.”
