Grad+ scheme could be just the job for young graduates

Young unemployed and underemployed graduates are being offered six-month work placements to bolster their job prospects.

Phase 2 of East Dunbartonshire Council’s Grad+ programme will offer the paid placements, which will be advertised at from this week. The closing date for the positions will be August 10.

Council leader Rhondda Geekie welcomed the scheme and said: “Grad+ is designed to deliver experience of the work place.

“As the largest employer in the area, we continue to set a positive example to other businesses in East Dunbartonshire and would encourage other employers to also look at developing employability opportunities for local young people.

“I would recommend that all eligible graduates in the area who are currently unemployed or underemployed apply for these work experience opportunities and if anyone knows of a young graduate who might benefit, they should encourage them to make an application.”
