Have your say on EDC cutbacks

People have been having their say on where they think council chiefs could save £20million across East Dunbartonshire.

The savings need to be made over the next three years and the council launched a consultation entitled ‘Your Services, Your Choices’ and an online budget simulator to show the impact service cuts would have on frontline services in 2015/16 and beyond.

Almost 200 proposed budgets have been submitted, with over 1,200 people viewing the simulator.

Budget workshops and street meets have also been held.

Council leader Rhondda Geekie said: “Removing a further £20million from our revenue budget on top of the savings already made is going to be incredibly difficult.

“We really want to hear everyone’s views on where they think these savings can be made and whether there are alternative approaches we should be considering.”

The views will inform a household survey to be distributed to 10,000 randomly selected households and will also be available online and through key council buildings.

The simulator is available until Friday, May 30 at www.eastdunbartonshire.budgetsimulator.com
