RESIDENTS are being urged to have their say on a proposal to relocate Lenzie Post Office.

East Dunbartonshire MP Jo Swinson has called on locals to get involved in a consultation being carried out by the Post Office.

Its proposing to move the Lenzie branch from Queen’s Building in Kirkintilloch Road to the Scotmid Co-op’s Morning, Noon and Night Store, in Gallowhill Road.

The relocation will see opening hours extended by more than 60 hours a week.

Ms Swinson said: “The post office is an integral part of community life and so it is vital that the new service meets local needs.

“I encourage local residents who may be affected by the proposed changes to get involved and take part in the consultation.”

Concerns have been raised that the proposed move of the branch would be too far from the centre of Lenzie.

Strathkelvin and Bearsden MSP Fiona McLeod has suggested that a possible new Co-operative store in Kirkintilloch Road would be a good location.

The consultation on Lenzie Post Office will close on May 17.
