LEGENDARY Beatles producer Sir George Martin once recorded a song with Kirkintilloch Junior Choir.

The producer, often referred to as the fifth Beatle, recorded a version of the hymn ‘Away in a Manger’ with the choir and its two soloists, Moira Anderson and Joan Summers, in 1952.

The song was released on a six-CD compilation in 2001 called ‘Produced by George Martin’, which commemorated his 50 year career as a record producer.

The compilation also included ‘Jake the Peg’ by Rolf Harris, Bernard Cribbins’ ‘Any Old Iron’ and Gerry and the Pacemakers ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’.

Moira Anderson will be back in Kirkinitlloch next week to introduce Kirkintilloch Male Voice Choir at the G66+Live Festival.

The festival takes place on Friday, June 24.
