Readers are being urged to delve into their family history and share stories of Jellyhill village for a local historian’s next publication.

Bill Findlay achieved success with his book Auchinairn, The Forgotten Village, which continues to sell well locally.

Now he is working on the next chapter of the history of Bishopbriggs.

Bill (79), is hoping people will come along to his talk on researching local history at Bishopbriggs Local History Group on Wednesday, February 4, at 6.30pm in Bishopbriggs Library.

Bill said: ‘‘I am hoping to get some feedback from the public, from anyone who knows anything about the mining village of Jellyhill, which is now part of greater Bishopbriggs. I am looking for memories and memorabilia, photographs too. I’m also looking for the people’s stories, everyday stories and memories.’’

If you have information to share you can pop along to the history group’s next meeting or talk to Bill in person on 0141 772 7253. His Auchinairn book is still available at Poppies, Bishopbriggs Library, Oasis in Callieburn Road and Huntershill Village.
