King’s Park harvests community spirit

HARVEST season is well underway at King’s Park primary school, where pupils recently held their annual October celebration.

The harvest celebration involves inviting elderly members of the community — including all those doting grandparents — to King’s Park parish church for a special service, followed by tea at the school.

Pupils, parents and carers donated plenty of hot drinks and treats for the day, and primary seven house captains were responsible for dishing it out — and chatting to their guests.

The elderly guests were then presented with harvest goodie bags, full of donated items.

Depute head teacher Geraldine Smith told The Extra: “As usual, the generosity of the school community was overwhelming and the extra goodie bags have been donated to a local food bank.

“The guests were delighted with the tea, cakes and the company.

“The school would like to say a huge thank you to the pupils, teachers, parents and support staff, and to reverend Boyd and Ian Henderson at the church for helping to make the day so special.”
