A pioneering businesswoman has been awarded an OBE for her services to disabled people.
Patricia Watson, from Kirkintilloch, is managing director of Able2Wear Ltd who are dedicated to designing and creating clothes for disabled people, particularly wheelchair users.
The businesswoman, who established the innovative firm 15 years ago, said that although disabled people have many rights enshrined in law, little thought is given to their self-esteem and their right to look and feel good.
She said: “I am very proud Her Majesty has awarded me this prestigious honour.
“I hope it will help to increase the profile of the millions of physically disabled people in the UK for whom mainstream clothing is unsuitable.”
