Hillhead Community Centre will be throwing its doors open to the public on Wednesday (September 24) at a special community open day.
The open day will provide the first opportunity for the community to see the new £2.7 million centre and find out more about what will be on offer.
Activities will also take place throughout the day with pupils from Hillhead, Oxgang and St Flannan’s primary schools taking part.
The former Hillhead Community Centre, which had stood on Meiklehill Road for over 80 years, was very popular with a range of community groups and the fantastic new development is set to be a tremendous focal point for the area.
The new community centre will be officially opened by Council Leader Rhondda Geekie and a representative
from Hillhead Community Forum at a ceremony for invited guests before the community will be welcomed in at 2pm.
Councillor Geekie said, “The open day is a great chance for the Council to engage with the whole Hillhead community from the local schools, community groups, community members through to the services that will be delivering in Hillhead.
“From the offset the local community worked closely with the Council and the architects to plan and develop this new centre which is modern, functional and provides opportunity for a broader range of community activity.”
