ANGRY motorists are being driven round the bend by major road works.
Lenzie Road has been closed for two weeks while major improvements to the water mains are carried out.
The road is expected to be closed for another five weeks.
Andrew Paterson, who travelled from Denny, says he was more than an hour late for a business appointment at the Key Store in Gallowhill Road, Lenzie, because of the road closure. He branded the system a “disgrace”.
Last week’s Herald reported how one woman driver got so fed-up with the road works that she said she wouldn’t come back to the town.
Drivers have been re-routed along the new Kirkintilloch Link Road, but this has caused traffic tailbacks at peak times.
Scottish Water said it would check that all the appropriate signage was in place.
An East Dunbartonshire Council spokesperson said: “There are signs at all approaches to the roundabout at the start of the Kirkintilloch Link Road and in all side streets.”
